The Right from the Start Coalition brings together partners and volunteers in child care, public health, research, government, healthcare, non-profit and advocacy to collaboratively identify and implement effective strategies for promoting healthy outcomes of African/African American / Black children in child care and early learning settings. The Right From The Start Coalition partners work together to provide a cohesion of services and resources that support Black childcare providers, Traditional Health Workers and early life professionals in the five roots of Right From The Start.
This Coalition is sustained by its ongoing commitment to working together to establish, advance, and maintain effective strategies that continuously improve the health and quality of life for African/African-American/Black children despite shifts in partners, funding and program priorities.
The Coalition is convened by the Right From The Start staff at the Oregon Public Health Institute (OPHI).
For effectiveness, sustainability and ownership of achievements all Coalition members are expected to actively participate in achieving the strategies of the Right From The Start.
